How to Make Realistic Looking Pumpkin Cookies

Fall is in full swing which means pumpkins are everywhere! I love making all types of pumpkin cookies during the Fall (you can see several past tutorials), but have always struggled to make the pumpkins look realistic and not like a flat cookie.

I have been testing some new techniques that I wanted to share with you that help add a lot more dimension to the otherwise flat pumpkin cookie making it look super realistic!

What you Need

Recipes:

• Sugar cookie dough (I made my delicious pumpkin white chocolate chip version)

• Royal Icing

Supplies and Materials:

• Cookies cut into the pumpkin shape, baked, and cooled.

• Royal icing in flood consistency:

  • Orange (or any other pumpkin color)

  • Brown

• Scribe Tool

• Piping Bags

• Piping tip

• Paint brushes

• White food paint:

• Paint pallet

• Black powder (could also use activated charcoal)
